Volunteer Position Description

 

Quality customer service is a primary goal of the Visitor Center and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The volunteer position of Greeter is one of the most integral ways we can achieve this goal. The Greeter is the first and sometimes only interaction a visitor has with a representative of the Visitor Center and Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This position offers a fun and interactive way for individuals to communicate with the public about their passion for the great outdoors.

  • Ability to adequately communicate with visitors in a thoughtful and meaningful manner

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Training will be provided

duties

  • Represent the Michigan DNR in a positive and professional manner

  • Orient visitors to facility, nature trails and interpretive programs

  • Sell and help to maintain the Visitor Center Gift Shop

  • Take program reservations

  • Answer visitor questions

  • Answer phone and answer questions, provide information, and take messages

  • Maintain a clean and organized Front Desk

  • Assist Visitor Center staff with various other tasks as needed

Greeters work at the front desk when the Visitor Center is open to the public and when special programs are happening.

    • Drop it off in person at the Wolf Lake Hatchery Visitor Center
